What Sets Loving Care Collective’s Screening Process Apart
Washington State holds licensed childcare programs to clear standards for the adults who care for children. Nannies and private caregivers work in family homes, often on their own, without that same oversight. I believe those children deserve the same training, accountability, and protections, so I hold every caregiver I match to the standards Washington sets for early learning professionals.

Every caregiver is registered with the state through MERIT, holds a STARS ID, and has a state-registered background check on file. This is the same clearance expected of licensed early learning professionals, so a caregiver's history has been reviewed and verified before they meet your family.

Caregivers routinely prepare meals and snacks, and young children are especially vulnerable to food borne illness. The food handler's card is a one-hour course in safe food handling, and it's a requirement that directly protects your child's health.

Washington requires MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination for those working in licensed programs. I also require the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine. Infants are too young to be fully immunized, and pertussis can be life-threatening for babies. A vaccinated caregiver lowers the chance of bringing these illnesses into your home.

Tuberculosis spreads through the air, and early illness is easy to miss, so testing is the reliable way to know. I require a negative test within the last 12 months or at the time of hire.

Even experienced nannies have often learned on the job, and habits and standards vary widely. Childcare basics training gives every caregiver a shared foundation in child safety, health, and development, so your child receives consistent, informed care.

I require at least two years of experience as a teacher or caregiver in a licensed facility or a family's home.

For any role that involves driving, I require an abstract driving record. It shows a caregiver's history behind the wheel, including serious violations and license status.
